Frequently Asked Questions

The overwhelming majority of plush toys are filled with poly-fill stuffing (an oil-based byproduct of polyester) and can create a choking hazard for your dog. Good Stuffing plush toys are filled with SafeFill™ Stuffing, which is a plant-based filling that will harmlessly dissolve in your dog’s mouth when it comes in contact with saliva.

SafeFill™ Stuffing is made from plant-based starch supplied by farms in the USA.

Unlike poly-fill, which if eaten by a dog, may cause choking, rashes, kidney problems and clogged intestines, SafeFill™ Stuffing will harmlessly dissolve in a dog’s mouth like cotton candy.

If your dog chews open a Good Stuffing toy, we strongly recommend you remove and dispose of the damaged toy. The SafeFill™ Stuffing won’t harm a dog, but it is recommended to discard the exposed stuffing along with the toy.

Yes, the powdery-looking substance is SafeFill™ Stuffing that has broken down. In order to make it easy to dissolve, the material can break into powdered form, which is just as harmless as the pellet form.

Yes! The principle ingredient used to manufacture polyester is ethylene, which is derived from petroleum. Manufacturing polyester is an energy-intensive process requiring large amounts of crude oil and releases emissions, including volatile organic compounds, particulate matter and acid gases such as hydrogen chloride. Moreover, it’s believed that synthetic fibers like polyester are the biggest source of microplastic pollution in the oceans.

SafeFill™ Stuffing is an eco-friendly, biodegradable, alternative to poly-fill that is made from natural plant starch. There is no crude oil component in the manufacturing of SafeFill™ Stuffing and no toxic byproducts. Unlike poly-fill, it does not contain any toxic materials that could have serious adverse effects on pets and humans.

We are dog lovers who have a passion for creating dog toys that promote fun and healthy play. That is why we spent years developing SafeFill™ Stuffing. We wanted a safer alternative for our dogs to enjoy plush toys without having to worry about them choking (or worse) on poly-fill.
